I would like to pay my respect to the sad passing of David Pearce. David was an inspiration and a leading light in championing the plight of the disenfranchised. Born in Colonial India on 18th July 1942, David held a (PHD) in Nuclear Physics. Because of his knowledge in Nuclear Physics he was well aware of the devastation that nuclear weapons can inflict on humanity. Throughout David’s life he was a stanched supporter in the Campaign Against Nuclear Disarmaments (CND). David was also a strong supporter and activist for the Labour Party throughout his life.
David was an integral member of the Humanist Society. As well as David’s vital roll promoting mental health David also worked for Oxfam in the charity shop on Ecclesall Road for many years. David purchased live stock for villages in Africa and Central America.
David’s roll in Mental Health Action Group Sheffield varied throughout the years his lists of rolls include; Treasurer, Chairperson, Secretary and David was also instrumental in acquiring MHAGS charitable status. Within MHAGS David was meticulous in every aspect of his duties when David gave his assistance it was his hundred percent. Although David was an academic he held principals of the highest integrity and addressed everybody David came into contact with as an equal. On a personal level David introduced culture to my life.
David had a passion for literature, music and the arts. David was well aware that the arts and science were one of the same and I am sure this was a reflection in his formative years. There was no doubt that David’s privileged background was a lesson that not everyone is born with the same advantages. I have never witnessed David demoralise an individual on their economic and social background.
David will be sadly missed by all who he came into contact with, I feel honoured to be asked to write such a moving tribute to one I consider is a Troubadour.
When I am marching on the Anti-Trident Demonstration in London on the 27th February 2016 I will be marching for you David.

Dear Friend Rest in Peace

Some facts regarding mental health.
In 1911 Winston Churchill attempted to push a Bill through Parliament for mental health in the Bill it stated sterilisation program and forced labour camps. Many words what are now derogatory derived from mental health; including 'Funny Farm' Victorian Asylums were self sufficient with Agriculture and Auticulture. The word 'Basket Case' was a turn derived from Basket Weaving. When the Ancient Greeks invaded Crete in indigenous population were illiterate so the word 'Cretin' because the Ancient Greeks used this terminology it became a medical term until it was changed to Learning Disabilities. I hope this has enlightened you that even an isolated population who were incarcerated their terminology managed to escape. Best Wishes Comrades. Tim Jones. Mental Health Action Group Sheffield.

I initiated Mental Health Action Group Sheffield (MHAGS) a project that I set up in 1992 as a political campaign group to challenge the cuts to mental health. The reason I took this bold step, in 1990 the NHS became a Trust the last bastion of Margret Thatcher’s reign terror on the working class. Care in the Community was implemented by Margret Thatcher in 1983 but the Blueprint was written by Enoch Powell in 1955. All the mental health reforms have been political acts the Insanity act was an attempt assassination on George the 4th by a decommissioned soldier James Hatfield in 1800. The ‘Guilty Of Insanity’ Act 1844 was the ‘Mac Norton Rule’ was an attempted assassination on the Tory Prime Minister Robert Peele. Daniel Mac Norton was a Glaswegian wood turner and I believe it was regarding the ‘Corn Law’ As a result Edward Drummond was mistakenly shot and mortally wounded in Whitehall. Later they changed the legislation ‘Innocent By Reason Of Insanity’. If you would like to visit our organisation please do not hesitate in contacting us.
